GRE PSR-700 Ezscan Radio Scanner w/ Built-In Frequency Database on a 2Gb Hd Mem Crd
The GRE PSR-700 Ezsan Radio Scanner was recently introduced by GRE America. The biggest selling point of the GRE PSR-700 is that it contains the entire radio reference database on the 2GB SD card! I recently had the chance to review this radio scanner for the emergency services department for my county.

Intuitive User Interface
The GRE PSR-700 Ezscan Radio Scanner is unbelievably easy to use and operate. If you use this radio for your department you will not have to budget for training on how to operate it. You can simply turn on the GRE PSR-700 as it is shipped from the factory and be able to use it.
Front Panel
A quick look at the front panel on the radio scanner will tell you that operation is very simple. Unlike other radio scanners the GRE PSR-700 does not have a keyboard. Instead there is a 4 way navigation button that allows you to select left and right menu choices as well as increase/decrease volume. If you have ever used an iPod you know how to use the 4 way navigation button.

The other press keys allow such function selections as SKIP to temporarily avoid specifically selected channels during scan and search sequences; A SELECT/PAUSE button to enter your choices and stop the scan/search sequence; a weather key for instant access to your local NOAA weather broadcast; a POWER ON/OFF key which has a secondary backlight function; and the all-important menu button for setting up your preferences for the scanner’s operation.
Can You Hear Me Now
A key requirement of any radio scanner is volume. You want to be able to hear what is happening despite the background noise around you. The GRE PS-700 internal speaker boasts a very impressive 300 MW. This is loud enough for you to hear regardless of the noise around you. The GRE PS-700 also does not have the distortion that is prevalent in many of the competitive radio scanners.
If you want to make the noise private, there is an earphone jack on the top of the GRE PS-700 scanner. You can listen using an ear piece so that the noise does not disturb people around you.
The only negative I found was the supplied whip is shorter than those found on most competitive scanners which slightly reduces reception range. Unless your service area is littered with mountain ranges that will block reception, this should not be a limiting factor.
I really like the features of the GRE PS-700 Ezscan radio scanner. Everyone else agrees because every person who has written a review of this product on Amazon has rated it as either 4 or 5 stars.
